Christian Valentine Basket Ideas for Kids

valentine basket ideas for kids

Do you find yourself at a loss of what to get your child for Valentine’s Day? You could easily run to the store and get a pre-made basket, or some candy, or maybe even a toy or stuffed animal. But what if we think outside the box and create a Valentine basket for your child that’s filled with items related to our faith in Jesus? How much more meaningful would that basket be? But maybe you are at a loss of what to fill this basket with! Here are some Christian Valentine basket ideas for kids!

God Loves You

14 Reasons Why God Loves You

Print out 14 of these heart cards and cut them out. On each heart write down one reason why God loves your child. For example, you could write the following: “God loves you because you are kind to your friends.” OR “God loves you because you help others.” Think of things that your child says, or does, or even the features God has given them. I believe these hearts will help remind your child how much God loves them!

Plush Jesus

We see every store lined with cute stuffed animals to give for Valentine’s. But, what if we gave them Jesus instead? I found this cute Plush Jesus on the Oriental Trading website! This Jesus could be what they could cling to at night as they sleep or carry around with them during the day. It’s a great reminder that Jesus is always with them and never leaves them.

Books

If you have preschoolers, these are cute Christian books to give:

God’s Love in My Heart

(Thomas Nelson)

God Gave Us Love

(Lisa T. Bergren)

If you have elementary kids, these are great Christian books to give:

You are Special

(Max Lucado)

Love Letters from God

(Glenys Nellist)

Journal & Pens/Markers

A journal is a great gift for a child! A journal gives them ways to write down things they learn about God, write down their prayers to God, or even draw pictures about God. You could even write in a note in the front of the journal reminding them how much you love them, how much God loves them, and even include a Scripture verse for them. And you must include some new pens, markers, crayons, or colored pencils for them to use with their journal!

Scripture Coloring Books

There are plenty of Scripture coloring books out there but here are a couple of my favorites:

Color the Words of Jesus

(It says it’s for teens and adults but I think it would be great for older kids too)

Jesus Heart Gold Plated Pendant

Cute necklace for girls!

Scripture Tag

Attach this Scripture tag to the front of your basket! For a printable version of this tag click here.

Candy

No basket is complete without some candy! Put your child’s favorite candy in their Valentine’s basket!

I hope this post has given you some fun and different Valentine basket ideas for kids! What a great reminder to your children that not only do you love them, but God loves them too!

My favorite idea is the pens/markers and journal. That would have been my favorite as a child also. All great ideas.
