For Advent this year, I wanted my church families to experience Advent as an adventure…one that they can take together as they wait and prepare for the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. I wanted to create some fun family Advent activities that they could do together. So I created the Family Advent Adventures kit. This kit is filled with lots of hands-on, interactive and simple Advent activities that will help families get into God’s Word, worship Him, and remember the greatest gift God gave us in Jesus Christ. Here are some fun activities that your families can include in your Family Advent Adventures kit:

Family Advent Devotions

These devotions are designed to be done every Sunday in Advent, plus they incorporate the lighting of the Advent wreath. They include Scripture, devotion, prayer, and a prompt for you to light the Advent candles in your Advent wreath.

Family Advent Calendar Kit

This kit includes 3 cards (25 of each) that help families read Scripture, praise God, and serve Him. These Advent Calendar fillers help families focus on Jesus’ birth this Christmas season!

Christmas Bible Bingo

This fun game of Bingo will help kids hear the story of Jesus’s birth!

Christmas Carol Shuffle

This is a fun game to use as a way to praise the Lord! Take the Christmas Carol cards and shuffle them up in a basket. Draw one out each day and sing that song for the day!

Nativity Scavenger Hunt

Take a drive around town and search for Nativity scenes! See how many you can find! This sheet includes a tally to mark when you find one!

Family Census Activity

In this activity, families will fill out their own census and then read Matthew 1 to answer questions about Jesus’s family tree!

Good News Christmas Cards

Share the Good News of Jesus’s birth with your family and friends! Mail these postcards out and share that Jesus is born!

Advent Books

I also like to give books to my church kids at Christmas time. For this Family Advent Adventures kit, I included a book depending on their age. For preschoolers, I gave them My First Advent Storybook by Laura Richie. For elementary kids, I gave them ‘Twas the Season of Advent by Glenys Nellist.

Nativity Craft

I also included a simple craft from Oriental Trading for kids to do.

Hi Sofia! To get the password to download the activities, just subscribe to my blog. Enter your email address in the subscription box on the home page. Then check your email and confirm it. Then it will send you an email with the Family Bible Resource Library password. If you don’t see that email in your inbox, it more than likely went to spam, so make sure to check there too. Thank you!

I love these ideas! When I went to download the Nativity Scavenger hunt, I couldn’t change the Facebook page name with ours instead so I choose not to use it. But other than that I love it all!! Thanks so much!
