Help your family celebrate Shrove Tuesday with a Pancake Party!
Shrove Tuesday Pancake Party is a one-day devotional for kids and families. This resource focuses on helping kids know what Shrove Tuesday is, why we celebrate it, why we eat pancakes on this day, and why we focus on forgiveness of our sins. Families will also use the Family Fasting for Lent printable to write down what they plan to give up for the season of Lent. And they will eat pancakes for dinner!
Shrove Tuesday Pancake Party is a family faith kit designed to be used on Shrove Tuesday. This kit includes the following: Family Devotion, Family Fasting for Lent, Pancake Flip Forgiveness, Pancake Relay Race, Shrove Tuesday Trivia, and Pancake Prayer Stack.

We included this resource in a “Faith at Home” Kit along with pancake mix & syrup to help families intentionally begin preparing for Easter. I love how practical & fun and easy to use these resources are for families. I am always looking for creative and Biblical content for “Faith at Home” kits and I always stop here first. COVID has changed a lot of what we are able to offer at the moment- Vanessa’s resources are a welcomed help in this season and beyond!

We used this Shrove Tuesday resource as the basis for creating prize baskets and used the baskets as incentives for families/children who were attending our Zoom Sunday School sessions in the winter of 2021. In prior years, one of my favorite preteen events has been a Mardi Gras party. Now I’m thinking I may switch to a Shrove Tuesday pancake party!! Both are fun ways to teach kids about Lent! Excellent resource!

We did this as a gathering on Zoom with children and their families. I sent the needed craft/game supplies home ahead of time (families pre-registered) and told the families the schedule for our Zoom time so that the pancakes (and whatever else they wanted to eat) would be ready at a specific time. We started our Zoom with the devotion and information about Shrove Tuesday, then we ate “together” on Zoom and chatted as a large group, we did a Shrove Tuesday trivia contest, and then we signed off of Zoom so that the families could do the rest of the activities independently. Since we weren’t able to gather for Ash Wednesday worship this was a great way to come together!
